Start with a clear conversation

You do not need to arrive with a finished design. Bring the idea, references and details that matter to you, then give the artist room to help shape them into a tattoo that works on the body.

Think about placement, approximate size, style and the parts of your references you actually like. Explaining why an image appeals to you can be more useful than simply collecting more images.

Look after yourself before the session

Arrive rested, eat beforehand and stay hydrated. Wear clothing that makes the tattoo area easy to reach while still keeping you comfortable during the session.

Follow any preparation instructions your artist gives you. If something changes before the appointment, communicate with the studio rather than trying to work around it on your own.

Give yourself enough time

Tattooing should not feel rushed. Allow time for final discussion, placement and the session itself. A calm appointment gives both you and the artist space to concentrate on the work.
